Haledon Officer Shot While Conducting Drill At Passaic County Shooting Range
A Haledon police officer is recovering after an accidental shooting during a rifle course at the Passaic County shooting range this week, authorities said. The officer was conducting a drill during the week-long course when a round discharged into his leg on Wednesday, Sept. 10 around 12:45 p.m. at the range in Paterson, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said. The Officer was taken to St. Joseph’s Medical Center for treatment for injuries that were described as non-life threatening.

Medevac Called To Bad Crash On Palisades Interstate Parkway (

A serious crash closed the Palisades Interstate Parkway Wednesday morning, Sept. 11 in Alpine, sources said. The accident happened in the southbound lanes near Exit 2 sometime around 10:30 a.m., Daily Voice has learned. Sources say the crash involved a utility truck. A medical chopper flew one person to the hospital just before 11:45 a.m., sources said. This is a developing story. Check back for details.

A 23-year-old man was arrested after police saw him swipe a package from a porch in Passaic County then brought officers on a foot pursuit. 'Get In The Van,' Driver Told 11-Year-Old On Little Ferry Street, Police Say
Police are warning residents after a driver reportedly tried to get a child inside of his vehicle one night this week in Bergen County. Little Ferry police said that the 11-year-old boy was walking to a friend's house when the driver of a white van pulled up next to him on Lakeview Avenue and Grand Street around 7:20 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9. A New Jersey family has filed a lawsuit against a funeral home alleging that their loved one's body had been damaged so badly while in their care that they were unable to hold an open casket service. Horses Extricated From Trailer In NJ Turnpike Crash, Firefighters Say
Several horses were medically treated after the trailers they were being towed in were struck on the New Jersey Turnpike Tuesday, Sept. 10, firefighters said. Police ID Pedestrian Killed By Car On Route 23 In West Milford
A 73-year-old man was struck and killed by a car early Tuesday, Sept. 10 in West Milford, authorities said. Mod A. Khader, of Lincoln Park, was trying to cross Route 23 south when he was struck by a vehicle around 6 a.m., Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes West Milford Police Chief James DeVore said. Khader was taken to Chilton Hospital where he died at 8:40 a.m. The vehicle that struck Khader remained at the scene and the investigation remains ongoing.

Dog Who Encountered Rabid Skunk Quarantining In Gloucester Township
An encounter with a rabid skunk has one South Jersey dog quarantining. An animal control officer responded to a Collingswood home on Thursday, Sept. 5, after a homeowner reported a skunk found in the backyard with the family dog, Camden County officials said in a release this week. Four days later, officials learned that the skunk had tested positive for rabies. Motorcyclist, 37, Killed In Route 17 Crash In Maywood (

A 37-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Route 17 in Bergen County on Tuesday, Sept. 10, police said. Police responding to multiple 911 calls of a motorcyclist down on the southbound side of the highway near the Essex Street ramp in Maywood found the operator unresponsive and not breathing just before 10:30 a.m., Maywood Police Detective Sgt. William Phayre said. The motorcyclist had collided with another vehicle, causing it to veer off the roadway into a grass median, Phayre said citing findings of the investigation.
