Inmates Convicted In Brutal Prison Beating: Essex County Prosecutors Two Essex County inmates were convicted of attempted murder for savagely beating another inmate with a microwave oven and other weapons in Sept. 2021, authorities announced Wednesday, June 14. Seven inmates attacked Jayshawn Boyd at the Essex County jail in Newark, beating him unconscious by punching him in the face and stomping on his head, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Shots Fired Over Parking Dispute, Suspect At Large: Kearny Police A 34-year-old Newark man remains at large following a shooting that occurred in Kearny following a parking dispute on the afternoon Tuesday, June 13, authorities said. Torso Found In Elizabeth River Identified As 34-Year-Old Man: Prosecutors The body parts recovered from the Elizabeth River last month have been identified as those of a 34-year-old Elizabeth resident, authorities announced on Tuesday, June 13. Union Woman Killed In Summit Car Crash (Updated) A 51-year-old Union woman was killed in a one-car crash in Summit on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 13, police said. The crash occurred on Orchard Street and Harvard Street, police said. The unidentified woman was driving a 2005 white, four-door Toyota Camry at a high rate of speed when her vehicle struck a tree, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
