An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

West New York Teen Sexually Abused 12-Year-Old: Prosecutors A 19-year-old West New York man was charged with committing sex crimes on a 12-year-old girl, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced. Marcus Quexordon was arrested on Monday, May 1, Suarez said. The incident occurred on Saturday, April 29, Suarez said. The victim is known to Quexordon, Suarez said. Quexordon was charged with sexual assault in the second degree and endangering the welfare of a child in the third degree. He was transported to Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance.

Hearts Break Following Death Of Union's Tony Marques, 49 Tony Manuel Marques, a lifelong New Jersey native, died with his family by his side on Saturday, April 8, according to his obituary. Car Crash Setup Leads To Gunpoint Robbery: Hillside PD A 34-year-old Chatham man was robbed of $50 at gunpoint after robbers planned a car crash while he was driving his Volkswagen in Hillside on the evening of Sunday, April 30, police said. At the intersection of Schley Street and Winans Ave, a silver BMW SUV stopped in the middle of the intersection, police said. Triple Shooting Kills Man In Newark One man was killed and two others were injured in a shooting in Newark on the evening of Sunday, April 30, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé announced. Newark police responded to a report of a shooting at the 800 block of 18th Ave. and found three people suffering from gunshot wounds, authorities said. Peeping Tom Peering Into Secaucus Apartment Popped By Police An Essex County man was arrested in Secaucus after police said he was seen peering into an apartment window on the evening of Sunday, April 30. Jason Rosario, a 30-year-old Belleville resident, was spotted on scene by officers and began to run, police said. He got into a car and police initiated a traffic stop, where he was later arrested and charged with attempted burglary and criminal trespass, officers said. Gift Card Fraud: Two Arrested In Bayonne Two Brooklyn residents were arrested in Bayonne for using gift cards to skim money from ATMs, police said. Neculai Candet, 31, and Madalina Balmus, 41, were taken into custody on Friday, April 28, following a weeklong investigation, police said. On Friday, April 21, a man reported four withdrawals from an ATM at a CVS, at either 560 Avenue C or Goldsborough Drive, totaling $560, police said. GameStop Robbed At Gunpoint: Bayonne PD A GameStop was robbed at gunpoint in Bayonne on Thursday evening, April 27, Captain Eric Amato said. The robbers took more than $23,000 worth of merchandise from the store at 205 LeFante Way after displaying the handle of a handgun and fashioning it in a threatening manner, Amato said. Newark Man Convicted Of Severely Beating Girlfriend A Newark man faces up to five years in state prison after he was convicted of beating his girlfriend in 2019, sending her to the hospital, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens announced. Ahmir Worthy was found guilty on Thursday, April 27, of third degree aggravated assault following a three-day trial, after prosecutors say he punched, kicked and slammed his girlfriend against the wall while at a party. She was diagnosed with a concussion, and suffered contusions and deep bruising, Stephens said. Worthy will be sentenced on June 26, Stephens said.
