Newark Police Officer Hit By Car, Suspect At-Large A Newark police officer was struck by a vehicle on Tuesday, April 18. The accident happened at 12:31 p.m. at a gas station on the 200 block of South Orange Avenue. The driver reversed into the officer and subsequently fled the scene, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said.  The officer was transported to University Hospital with non life-threatening injuries, Fragé said. Police are continuing to investigate, Fragé said.

Swatting Hoax Probed By Hoboken Police A report of a shooting in Hoboken on Monday, April 17 turned out to be a swatting hoax, police said. Police responded to Grand Street between 1st and Newark Streets, along with fire, EMS and police officers from the nearby Stevens Police Department. Officers closed down Grand Street as they began their investigation. Officers soon determined the call was fake and there was no threat to public safety, police said. Gaal, who was first runner-up in the Miss New Jersey pageant in 2013, is linked to Matt Fitzpatrick, who won the 2022 US Open.  Fitzpatrick also won the 2023 RBG Heritage Open on Sunday, April 16. Bronx Boy Charged With Bomb Threats At Kearney High School: Police A 13-year-old boy from The Bronx was charged with juvenile delinquency on Friday, April 14 for calling bomb threats into Kearney High School last week, police said. The boy has no connection to Kearney and picked the school at random, Captain Timothy Wagner said.  He was charged with two counts of terroristic threats in the third degree, Wagner said. A summons complaint was mailed to his residence, Wagner said.
