United Way Poughkeepsie Sends Almost 9,000 Pounds Of Donations To Texas POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- United Way of the Dutchess-Orange region is doing what it can to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey.On Tuesday,  UPS sent a team of volunteers to United Way's Poughkeepsie office to pick up 8,815 pounds of items donated to the victims of Hurricane Harvey. SPCA Saves 23 Cats From Harvey, Irma BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. -- The SPCA of Westchester was able to rescue 23 cats and kittens from Hurricanes Harvey and Irene. The cats were transported to its Briarcliff location last week after shelters in Texas and Florida had to make room for the overwhelming amount of lost and displaced animals. Thirteen cats came from Texas, while 10 came from Florida. "We're honored to lend a small hand in making lives better for these cats and kittens who desperately needed a safe haven and second chance," said the SPCA's Executive Director Shannon Laukhuf.
