Born in Newark and raised in Hudson County, Jerry DeMarco is a 38-year veteran of the news industry and a renowned breaking news reporter. He has covered local, county and state police, as well as the FBI, ATF and other federal agencies.

DeMarco joined Daily Voice in 2015 after six years running Cliffview Pilot, one of the nation's few independent breaking news sites. As an independent publisher, he helped establish Local Independent Online News, a national trade organization.

Prior to launching his own site, DeMarco served as a reporter for the Bergen Record, Stamford Advocate, Rockland Journal News, News Tribune, and Trenton Times.

DeMarco has won national recognition for his investigative work, including Clarion, Heywood Broun and Deadline Club awards. He's changed public policy and managed several major projects -- including one that helped put a corrupt public official in federal prison and another that forced a sitting New Jersey attorney general from office for her participation in a Bergen County traffic stop involving her boyfriend.

DeMarco regularly lectures at a graduate course in media relations at Fairleigh Dickinson University and previously was an adjunct professor at Lehman College in the Bronx.

He has a Bachelor's Degree in English from St. Peter's University in Jersey City.

Salesman From Little Ferry Charged With Sexually Assaulting Pre-Teen A sales associate from Little Ferry was charged with sexually assaulting a pre-teen, authorities confirmed. Rhuellah Riley, 24, “sexually assaulted the child in Little Ferry, NJ between the years 2020 and 2023,” Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. Little Ferry police alerted Musella’s Special Victims Unit to the allegations on July 17, the prosecutor said. Jeep Rams Electrical Box In Ridgewood Bollards planted around a roadside electrical box mostly did their job during an early-morning crash Wednesday in Ridgewood. Family Of Driver, 24, Killed In GSP Crash Gets $2.15M Settlement From Dump Truck Owner The estate of a 24-year-old man who was killed in a crash on the Garden State Parkway has reportedly settled a lawsuit against his former employer for $2.15 million. Brandon Lawson, of Manchester Township, was driving a dump truck owned by Farmingdale-based Galderese Trucking when its brakes failed on the southbound Parkway in Egg Harbor Township in the middle of the afternoon on Jan. 6, 2021, authorities said. Rash Of Bike Thefts Reported At Both Glen Rock Train Stations Five bicycles have been stolen from Glen Rock train stations over the past month, two of which are worth a combined $1,800, authorities said. “All appear to be taking place during off hours when there is little activity at the station,” Glen Rock Police Chief Dean Ackermann said.
