Born in Newark and raised in Hudson County, Jerry DeMarco is a 38-year veteran of the news industry and a renowned breaking news reporter. He has covered local, county and state police, as well as the FBI, ATF and other federal agencies.

DeMarco joined Daily Voice in 2015 after six years running Cliffview Pilot, one of the nation's few independent breaking news sites. As an independent publisher, he helped establish Local Independent Online News, a national trade organization.

Prior to launching his own site, DeMarco served as a reporter for the Bergen Record, Stamford Advocate, Rockland Journal News, News Tribune, and Trenton Times.

DeMarco has won national recognition for his investigative work, including Clarion, Heywood Broun and Deadline Club awards. He's changed public policy and managed several major projects -- including one that helped put a corrupt public official in federal prison and another that forced a sitting New Jersey attorney general from office for her participation in a Bergen County traffic stop involving her boyfriend.

DeMarco regularly lectures at a graduate course in media relations at Fairleigh Dickinson University and previously was an adjunct professor at Lehman College in the Bronx.

He has a Bachelor's Degree in English from St. Peter's University in Jersey City.

State Charges Millville Court With Discriminating Against Spanish Speakers State authorities filed a complaint Tuesday accusing the city of Millville of violating the law by discriminating against Spanish-speaking defendants. The municipal court in Millville required those who “were or were perceived to be Spanish-speaking” prevented them from participating in court proceedings virtually between June and December 2022, New Jersey Attorney General Matthew J. Police Responding To 911 OD Call Find Destructive Devices In South Jersey Home: ATF Police who responded to a 911 call of a possible drug overdose in a Mays Landing housing development were in for a surprise. Judges Refuse To Free Dominican National From Clifton Charged With Sexually Assaulting Pre-Teen Bail reform doesn't free everyone, apparently. A 19-year-old Dominican national from Clifton has remained held after being charged with sexually assaulting a pre-teen. Judges in Paterson have refused to release Handerson Lantigua since his arrest last month by detectives from the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office following a referral from Clifton police, records show. Senior Hackensack Couple Rescued From Glen Rock Riverbank After Parking Lot Crash An elderly Hackensack couple were rescued after a mid-morning parking lot crash left their vehicle perched over a stream in Glen Rock, authorities said. ICE Looks To Deport Laborer Charged With Decade-Long Child Sex Abuse In Bergen, At Jersey Shore For more than a decade, a laborer believed to living in the U.S. illegally sexually abused a child in Bergen County and at the Jersey Shore, authorities said Monday. Federal authorities have placed a detainer on Jonan Pascasio-Erazo, a 46-year-old Salvadoran national living in Waldwick, who was jailed late last week.
