Pleasantville native Jon Craig is special editor for the Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Orange and Dutchess Daily Voice sites. He is also the primary reporter for Daily Voice Plus Politics in Westchester and Fairfield.

Jon graduated from Cornell University and received his master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Across a 35-year career, he's worked as a reporter for daily newspapers in Chicago, New York, Ohio & Washington, D.C and as managing editor for weekly newspapers in Rye, White Plains and Harrison.

Jon also writes periodically for the Cornell Chronicle.

Train Derails In Mamaroneck MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- An out-of-service CSX locomotive derailed early Wednesday on a rail siding in Mamaroneck, officials said. The derailment took place around 3 a.m.   It was not on Metro-North’s tracks and had no impact on commuter train service, according to Aaron Donovan, an MTA spokesman. There were no injuries, Donovan said. The CSX locomotive reportedly was on private track in an Industrial area near 700 Waverly in Mamaroneck.

Mamaroneck Firefighters Extinguish Luxury Apartment Dumpster Fire LARCHMONT, N.Y. -- Mamaroneck firefighters extinguished a fire that originated in a dumpster next to The Cambium luxury apartment building on Monday afternoon. The fire broke out about 3:30 p.m. at 10 Byron Place in Larchmont. About 49 units are occupied, but no one was hurt. According to a witness, the flames shot up from the dumpster and through a vertical garbage chute, following it high into the air, but the flames did not enter any of the building's windows.

Since early September, town police said two unnamed bank locations -- one in the Town of Poughkeepsie and one in the Town of Hyde Park -- were targeted by two suspects who allegedly placed the devices on ATMs at each bank location last month.
