Born in Newark and raised in Hudson County, Jerry DeMarco is a 38-year veteran of the news industry and a renowned breaking news reporter. He has covered local, county and state police, as well as the FBI, ATF and other federal agencies.

DeMarco joined Daily Voice in 2015 after six years running Cliffview Pilot, one of the nation's few independent breaking news sites. As an independent publisher, he helped establish Local Independent Online News, a national trade organization.

Prior to launching his own site, DeMarco served as a reporter for the Bergen Record, Stamford Advocate, Rockland Journal News, News Tribune, and Trenton Times.

DeMarco has won national recognition for his investigative work, including Clarion, Heywood Broun and Deadline Club awards. He's changed public policy and managed several major projects -- including one that helped put a corrupt public official in federal prison and another that forced a sitting New Jersey attorney general from office for her participation in a Bergen County traffic stop involving her boyfriend.

DeMarco regularly lectures at a graduate course in media relations at Fairleigh Dickinson University and previously was an adjunct professor at Lehman College in the Bronx.

He has a Bachelor's Degree in English from St. Peter's University in Jersey City.

Body Found On Jersey Shore Beach Authorities said they'd initially found “no sign of trauma or other indication of criminal involvement” on a body that apparently washed up Monday morning at the Jersey Shore. A passerby found the body on Ideal Beach in Middletown around 6:20 a.m. and alerted authorities, they said. Authorities were trying to identify the victim. Kind, Generous Fair Lawn Grandfather Dies Tributes continued to mount as news spread of the death of a beloved 75-year-old Fair Lawn man over the weekend. Andrew Feci, 75, was pronounced dead at the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, where his wife works, after he went into cardiac arrest behind the wheel of his SUV on Saturday. Suspect Shot, Killed At 'Spaghetti Bowl' In Wayne After High-Speed Police Chase Authorities on Monday identified a driver shot and killed in Wayne following a police chase as an upstate New York man who records show had a criminal history and police said was carrying a gun. Charges Upgraded In Unlicensed Hit-Run Crash That Killed Woman Outside AC Authorities upgraded charges against an unlicensed driver who they said fled a crash that killed a 48-year-old woman outside Atlantic City earlier this week. Lightning Strikes Twice: Fire Again Ravages Burned-Out Middlesex Home Under Renovation A fire on Saturday severely damaged a Middlesex County house that was gutted by a blaze earlier this year. The fire began in the basement of the Charles Street home in Metuchen shortly before 3:30 p.m., responders said. Firefighters made quick work of the flames in the basement, but the fire spread up the walls, they said. No serious injuries were immediately reported. SUV Driver Suffers Critical Medical Episode At Route 17 Exit A driver whose SUV crashed off Route 17 in Ridgewood Saturday afternoon apparently suffered a medical episode beforehand, responders said.
