Born in Newark and raised in Hudson County, Jerry DeMarco is a 38-year veteran of the news industry and a renowned breaking news reporter. He has covered local, county and state police, as well as the FBI, ATF and other federal agencies.

DeMarco joined Daily Voice in 2015 after six years running Cliffview Pilot, one of the nation's few independent breaking news sites. As an independent publisher, he helped establish Local Independent Online News, a national trade organization.

Prior to launching his own site, DeMarco served as a reporter for the Bergen Record, Stamford Advocate, Rockland Journal News, News Tribune, and Trenton Times.

DeMarco has won national recognition for his investigative work, including Clarion, Heywood Broun and Deadline Club awards. He's changed public policy and managed several major projects -- including one that helped put a corrupt public official in federal prison and another that forced a sitting New Jersey attorney general from office for her participation in a Bergen County traffic stop involving her boyfriend.

DeMarco regularly lectures at a graduate course in media relations at Fairleigh Dickinson University and previously was an adjunct professor at Lehman College in the Bronx.

He has a Bachelor's Degree in English from St. Peter's University in Jersey City.

Seen HIM? Police Seek Help ID'ing Wayne Business Burglar Wayne police sought the public's help identifying a business burglar who was recorded on surveillance video. "We have been unable to identify the suspect and are seeking the public’s assistance in doing so," Police Capt. Daniel Daly said. Note the tattoo on the suspect’s left upper arm, authorities said. NJ Woman Hospitalized In Hackensack Tests Negative For Coronavirus UPDATE: A 25-year-old New Jersey woman tested negative for the coronavirus, the state Department of Health said. It turned out she had a cold. The woman was transported to HUMC from Riverside Medical Group at Mariners Plaza on River Road in Edgewater around 6 p.m. Thursday with possible exposure to the mysterious pneumonia-like respiratory illness, borough police said. Fleeing Suspect, 32, Who Tried To Run Down Police Officer Killed In Bloomingdale UPDATE: A fleeing suspect was shot and killed Thursday morning in Bloomingdale after trying to run over a police officer, authorities confirmed. The chase began with a shoplifting on Route 23 in Riverdale around 9:30 a.m. Riverdale police stopped an Acura SUV and had taken a suspect into custody when the driver hit the gas, responders said. Ex-Bergen, Passaic, Essex Teacher Admits Sex Trysts With Students Jury selection for her trial was under way when a former teacher in Bergen, Passaic and Essex counties admitted having sexual encounters with male students in Maplewood, authorities said. North Bergen Pedestrian, 19, Struck By Hit-Run Driver In Palisades Park Police asked the public for help finding the hit-run driver who struck and injured a 19-year-old North Bergen woman with his SUV as she crossed a notorious Palisades Park intersection.
