NJ Native Riding Scooter Struck, Killed By Box Truck In NYC A 24-year-old North Jersey native died days after being struck by a box truck in New York City last week, according to police and her obituary. Molly Pearson, a Ho-Ho-Kus native and Northern Highlands Regional High School graduate, was riding a scooter when the truck ran her over around 11:15 a.m. on Nov. 2, the NYPD said. The truck apparently tried turning onto Skillman Avenue from Meeker in Williamsburg, when the driver struck Pearson, authorities said. Both were heading east. Man Takes Fatal Leap From NJ Turnpike: Police A 33-year-old man leapt to his death from a New Jersey Turnpike overpass in Newark Monday morning, authorities said. Alain Lopez-Dorado, of Union, jumped off of the Interchange 14 overpass around 8:40 a.m., New Jersey State Police Trooper Brandi Slota said. He apparently landed on Delancy Street, developing reports say. Lopez-Dorado was transported by EMS to the University Hospital where he died, Slota said. The investigation is active and ongoing.

Bright Green Fireball Spotted By NJ, PA Residents A bright green fireball lit up the sky on Wednesday night -- just after SpaceX's Crew-3 liftoff, Space.com reports. Nearly 500 people including some from New Jersey and Pennsylvania reported the fireball to the American Meteor Society. The Taurid fireball was visible at 9:12 EST on Nov. 10, just nine minutes after the SpaceX liftoff, the AMS said. The fireball first became visible 48 miles over Greenville, NC and moved northwest at 33,000 miles per hour -- surviving only 3.5 seconds before disintegrating above Macclesfield, the AMS reports. Arrest Made In Florida Shooting That Killed 25-Year-Old Essex County Man A 19-year-old gunman was arrested in a shooting that killed a 25-year-old Essex County man and hurt another in Florida, authorities said. Michael Cappella, 19, of Plant City, FL, admitted to authorities at the scene that he shot at Solomon Cohen and his passenger around 2 a.m. last Tuesday, WFLA reports. Cohen, an Orange native, apparently lost control of the vehicle and crashed, the outlet said citing the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. 1 Dead, 1 Injured In Colts Neck Crash One person died and another was seriously injured in a one-car crash in Colts Neck overnight, authorities said. A female driver from Seaside Heights was heading south on State Highway 18 near milepost 20.8 when the car, a 2011 Mazda, went off the roadway to the right, struck a tree and overturned just before 3 a.m. Sunday, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office spokesman Chris Swendeman. Man Assaults His Grandmother, 68, In York Hospital: Police A 19-year-old man was arrested for assaulting his grandmother in a York County hospital, authorities said. Authorities were contacted by a forensic examiner at the hospital saying a 68-year-old woman was assaulted by her grandson, later identified as Aaron Michael Resh, of Wrightsville, on Nov. 5, Lower Windsor Police said. The victim had a large swollen area to their head and was also wearing a metal eye covering over her eye, police said. Beloved Lancaster Pediatrician Dies Days After Being Struck By Vehicle A beloved Lancaster pediatrician died of injuries suffered last month when he was struck by a car, his colleagues said. Steven F. Killough was struck by a vehicle on Oct. 29, and died of traumatic brain injuries suffered in the downtown Lancaster crash on Nov. 12, Lancaster Online originally reported. His practice remembered him as a "great pediatrician and a loyal friend." Sean A.
