Serial Bank Robber Nabbed, Police In Central PA Say
A 43-year-old man who robbed two banks in Central Pennsylvania was in police custody, authorities said. James Bryant III is accused of showing a firearm and handing a note demanding money to the teller of the Citizens Bank on S. Baltimore Street in Carroll Township on Sept. 22, local police said. A New Jersey teacher and athletic coach was arrested for sexually assaulting a teen student, and another school employee was charged with knowing about it -- but not doing anything to stop it, authorities said. Matthew J. Woman Struck, Killed By Speeding Car In Newark
A 42-year-old woman was struck and killed by a car in Newark Tuesday, authorities said. Bessie R. Leake was struck by a speeding Infiniti Q50 that hit a parked car and then fled the scene, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Newark Public Safety Director Brian O’Hara said. The incident occurred around 6:35 p.m. The driver was later apprehended. No charges have been filed. A 68-year-old teacher from Hudson County is facing additional and upgraded charges in the sexual assaults of two students, authorities said. Apparao Sunkara was arrested at his Hicksville, Long Island home on March 16, and charged with abusing an 11-year-old victim at the Infinity Institute, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.
