Woman Struck By Bullets Playing Kickball At Philly Rec Center Facing Long Road To Recovery
Support is surging for a 35-year-old woman struck by bullets in a shooting at a Philadelphia recreation center earlier this month. Amanda Lyons was shot in the back while playing kickball at the Hancock Rec Center in Kensington around 9:15 p.m. last Wednesday. Meanwhile, a 16-year-old boy died in the incident. Man Struck, Killed By Train In Elizabeth
A man was struck and killed by a train Thursday night in Elizabeth, responders said. Northeast Corridor train 3891 struck the man near W. Grand Street station around 10:45 p.m., NJ Transit spokesman Jim Smith said. The train had left New York Penn Station at 10:11 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Trenton at 11:42 p.m. There were no injuries to the approximately 300 customers or crew on board the train. A payroll manager from Montgomery County stole more than $154,000 from her employer -- a non-profit organization that helps recently released inmates with reentry and other services, authorities said Thursday. Anglea Nadeau, 42, of Royersford, stole the funds from Upper Dublin Township-based organization "The Kintock Group" while employed under the name Angela Claussen, Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. PD: Kennett Square Passenger With Cocaine In Traffic Stop Charged With Evidence Tampering
A Kennett Square man was found in possession of cocaine during a routine traffic stop and charged evidence tampering, authorities said. Rodrigo Guzman-Hernandez, 37, was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped Monday on Baltimore Pike in New Garden around 8 p.m. for a moving violation, Southern Chester County Regional police said. Officers saw Guzman-Hernandez making "furtive movements" toward the floor, and was removed from the vehicle, authorities said. Hudson County Inmate Awaiting Sentencing Dead In Apparent Suicide
A Hudson County inmate died of what county officials believe were self-inflicted injuries on Wednesday, officials said. Albert Roman, 51, was taken to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment of the undisclosed injury Wednesday evening, and was pronounced dead at 5:03 p.m., NJ.com reports citing county spokesman Jim Kennelly. Roman's death marks the first suicide at the Hudson County Correctional Facility since 2018. Elizabeth MVC Locations To Reopen More Than Decade After Former Gov. Christie Closed It
A New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission center that closed more than a decade ago will reopen later this summer. The 7,000-square-foot facility will be located at 17 Caldwell Pl. -- off Broad Street and near the Union County Superior Courthouse -- in Elizabeth. Gov. Chris Christie's administration closed the Elizabeth MVC center in 2010 apparently in an effort to save taxpayers money. Newark Woman Stabs Victim In Face During Argument, Authorities Say
A Newark woman was arrested for stabbing a female victim in the face during an argument authorities said. Rosamond Bender, 29, was charged with aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a weapon in connection with the incident around 6:30 p.m. May 24, Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara said. The stabbing occurred on the 600 block of Hunterdon Street, O'Hara said. The victim suffered a cut on her face, authorities said.
