Irvington Man Shot Dead In Union
A 22-year-old Irvington man was shot and killed in Union over the weekend, authorities said. Emmanuelle Florestal was found suffering gunshot wounds on the 2000 block of Morris Avenue around 6:40 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel said. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. There was no indication that this incident is related to a previous shooting that took place in Union the day before. A 54-year-old Princeton man was arrested for exposing his genitals to a girl at a learning center in Somerset County, authorities said. The girl told police she was walking by a man later identified as Shuai Shen, of Princeton, when he pulled his pants down and exposed himself to her on Saturday, Oct. 1 at an undisclosed educational facility in Montgomery Township, Somerset County Prosecutor John P. Union County officials are expected to be presented with a check made out for $8 million in state funding that will go toward renovations to an indoor ice skating rink at the Warinanco Sports Center in Roselle. Tractor Trailer Crash Closes Portion Of Route 78
A tractor trailer crash closed a portion of Route 78 in Somerset County during rush hour Monday, Oct. 17. The trailer overturned on the eastbound side of the highway on the Exit 36 ramp in Warren Township around 7:15 a.m., New Jersey State Police Trooper Charles Marchan said. The driver was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The crash remains under investigation and there was no additional information available.

A father and son from Pennsylvania got the surprise of a lifetime from a humpback whale while fishing on the Jersey Shore — and they got it on video. Zach Piller, 23, of Bensalem, took his phone out to capture his dad Doug's catch while fishing off coast of Belmar on Wednesday, Oct. 12. Three men and a teenager led police on a wild pursuit after crashing a stolen BMW, and then hopping in a Lexus SUV, causing one state trooper to crash his vehicle on the Garden State Parkway over the weekend, authorities said.
