Kamala Harris Arrives In NJ US Vice President Kamala Harris has arrived in New Jersey. She arrived via a pair of Air Force Twos at the Atlantic City International Airport around 10:35 a.m. Monday, July 18, NJ Advance Media reports. Harris will discuss abortion rights at the NAACP's 113th national convention in Atlantic City, highlighting the Biden administration's work across the US. She will then meet with nearly two dozen state legislators and local officials to discuss the Roe v. Wade overturn and abortion/reproductive rights.

ON3 Flagship Tower Sells For Whopping $132 Million A massive office tower on a Nutley campus has sold for $137 million, Prism Capital Partners announced last week. The 300,000-square-foot tower is located at 200 Metro Blvd., and is part of the ON3 mixed-use campus that straddles Nutley and Clifton. It's served as Eisai Inc.’s corporate headquarters since 2020, following a renovation. Girl Killed In Plainfield Fire, 23 Victims Displaced A young girl was killed and another child hospitalized in a fire that displaced 23 people in Plainfield Sunday, July 17, authorities said. People were trapped inside the North Avenue house when firefighters arrived around 1 a.m., abc7 reports. They found one unresponsive girl and another child suffering smoke inhalation. One girl was pronounced dead at the scene while the other child was hospitalized, TapInto reports.

Union Beach Officer Killed In Crash Was 'Rising Star' The Union Beach Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its own. Detective Cpl. Timothy Kelly, Jr., 29, died in an off-duty crash, his department said. His father also served as a UBPD officer. "Kelly was a rising star in the Union Beach Police Department, having been involved in many high profile and sensitive special operations with the FBI, DEA, MCPO, and BTF," UBPD said. He earned a Bachelors of Science Degree from the University of Alabama with a double major in History and Criminal Justice. Details in the crash were not immediately clear.

Virginia Man Killed By Off-Duty Officer In DC (Update) A Virginia man was shot and killed by an off-duty police officers over the weekend in Washington DC, authorities said. Lazarus Wilson, 23, of Dumfries, was spotted by a pair of Metro Police Department officers holding a gun during a confrontation on the 800 block of Wharf Street around 9:15 p.m. Saturday, July 16, MPD said. The officer told Wilson to drop the gun, but he didn't, and so one of the officers fired his service weapon, striking Wilson, police said. Young Pilot Killed In Cape May Plane Crash A 22-year-old pilot was killed in a Cape May County plane crash early Saturday, July 16, authorities said. Thomas Gibson was the sole occupant of the single-engine Piper PA-12 that crashed into a field near Paramount Air Airport around 9:40 a.m., the FAA and Middle Township police said. The Ocean City resident was pronounced dead at the scene. According to his social media pages, Gibson graduated from Marywood University in Scranton, PA, and had been working for Gibson Electrical & General Contractors. The crash was under investigation.
