Essex County Man Struck, Killed By Car While Crossing Street
A 57-year-old Essex County man was struck and killed by a car while crossing the street Friday, June 24, authorities said. Miguel Vargas was rushed to the hospital after the 10 p.m. incident on Washington Avenue in Belleville, and pronounced dead Sunday, according to a spokesperson for the ECPO. Further information was not released.

Beltzville State Park Will Close July 4th Weekend Once Capacity Reached
Beltzville State Park will be closing once capacity is reached the weekend of July Fourth, according to the park's Facebook page. "Due to the holiday, we expect to reach capacity on July 2nd, 3rd & 4th," the post reads. "At which time, the park will close and no one else will be let in. Please plan accordingly." The park closed around noon on June 26 due to capacity limits.

22-Year-Old Woman Dies In Allentown Scooter Crash
A 22-year-old woman was killed in a scooter crash Saturday, June 25 in Allentown, multiple news outlets are reporting. Debralee Roman struck a car around 9:50 p.m. at Eighth and Turner streets and was rushed to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead around 40 minutes later, WFMZ reports. The death was ruled accidental and the crash remains under investigation.

5 Alarm Fire Tears Through Kearny Home
A fire-alarm fire brought Hudson County firefighters o Kearny Sunday, June 26. The blaze broke out at 210 Laurel Ave. around 10:45 a.m., and was still raging as of 2 p.m. Firefighters from Jersey City, Kearny and Harrison were at the scene.

Body Of Missing Delaware River Swimmer Found
The body of a swimmer who went missing last week in the Delaware River was found over the weekend, WFMZ reports. Christopher Schofield's body was found by a park visitor around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, near Kittatinny Point within the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, the outlet said. The 23-year-old Stroudsburg man had last been seen around 8 p.m. Tuesday, when he tried to swim across the river from Prices Landing, to New Jersey. Click here for more from WFMZ.

PA Man, 27, Seriously Hurt In Fiery Garden State Parkway Crash
A 27-year-old driver from Allentown, PA was seriously hurt in an early-morning crash on the Garden State Parkway Sunday, June 26, authorities said. Mafer Fermin Pena was rear-ended by an Acura near mile post 137.9 on the northbound side of the highway in Cranford around 4:45 a.m., New Jersey State Police Trooper Brandi Slota said. The Mazda traveled off the roadway to the right and struck a tree, and the Acura subsequently caught fire. Pena was hospitalized with serious injuries. The investigation remains active and ongoing.

Phillies Outfielder Bryce Harper Struck By Fastball, Out Indefinitely
Bryce Harper, the outfielder for the Philadelphia Phillies, is out of the season indefinitely due to a broken thumb suffered by a fast ball, his team said. Harper, the reigning National League MVP, was struck in the fourth inning of Saturday's game against the San Diego Padres by a 97 mph fast ball. Harper jokingly said he wished it was a repeat of last year when he was hit in the face by a fastball from St. Louis' Genesis Cabrera, saying, "I don't break bones in my face."

Trenton Officer Threatened Pair During Incident At Public School: Authorities
A Trenton police officer has been suspended from the force after being charged with harassment for an incident at a public school in Hamilton, NJ Advance Media says citing the prosecutor's office. Rudy Lopez, 36, was issued a summons Friday, June 24. He apparently threatened two people at Lalor Elementary the morning of Wednesday, June 15, the outlet says citing authorities. Police ID Man Using Walker Killed By Hit-Run Car In Anne Arundel
A man using his walker to cross a Maryland street was struck and killed by a car that fled on Saturday, June 25, authorities said. Paul Haughee, 56, of Glen Burnie, was struck at Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard and MD Route 10 around 2 a.m., Anne Arundel County Police Department said. Haughee was wearing dark, non-reflective clothing. It was unknown how long the pedestrian was in the roadway before being discovered by the passerby, who called 911. Haughee was pronounced dead at the scene.

Tesla Driver Arrested In Hit-Run Death Of Beloved 21-Year-Old Pedestrian In Philadlephia
An arrest has been made in this week's hit-and-run death of a 21-year-old pedestrian who was launched 12 feet in the air after being struck in Philadelphia, authorities said. Quadera Parrish surrendered Friday, June 24 on charges of homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter and more, police said. Parrish struck Dia Lee who was operating a Tesla while crossing Germantown Avenue and Coulter Street just before 7 p.m. on Monday, June 20.
