New COVID Variant Has Scientists Worried Another COVID-19 variant with multiple mutations is the subject of a special meeting called by the World Health Organization for Friday. The meeting on the B.1.1.529 variant detected in South Africa will focus on what the new variant means for treatments and vaccines, the organization said Thursday. $50K Powerball Ticket Sold In NJ A New Jersey Powerball player has one more thing to be thankful for this year. A ticket good for $50,000 was sold in the Thanksgiving Day drawing in Camden County. The ticket was purchased from the Sicklerville C-Store, 336 Sicklerville Rd., Sicklerville, lottery officials said. 'Lakewood Scoop' Reporter Assaulted During DUI Arrest: Report (Video) A Lakewood Scoop reporter was apparently assaulted while on the scene of a DUI arrest on Thanksgiving Day, the outlet reported. Toddler Seriously Injured By Car In Jersey City (Developing) A toddler was seriously injured after being struck by a car Wednesday afternoon in Jersey City, developing and unconfirmed police reports say. The child and their mother were struck outside of 9 Bentley Avenue around 3:30 p.m., initial reports say. The child, believed to be 3, was reported to have suffered serious head injuries while the mother suffered leg injuries. Neither Jersey City officials nor spokespeople for the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office could immediately confirm. This is a developing story. Check back for details.

Police Officer Brought Bergen Nurse's Body Home To Mom After Killing Him On Parkway: Prosecutor A police officer was arrested for attempting to hide the body of a 29-year-old nurse who he struck and killed on the Garden State Parkway, authorities said. Deadly Construction Accident Reported In Luxury North Jersey Neighborhood A construction worker died in an accident Tuesday afternoon in a luxury North Jersey neighborhood recently named one of America's priciest, officials confirmed.
