Jon graduated from Cornell University and received his master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Across a 35-year career, he's worked as a reporter for daily newspapers in Chicago, New York, Ohio & Washington, D.C and as managing editor for weekly newspapers in Rye, White Plains and Harrison.

Jon also writes periodically for the Cornell Chronicle.

NJ Target Store Weeks Away From Opening Another former Kmart store is being replaced by a new Target store -- this time in Atlantic County.  The newest Target to land in Somers Point is set to open this month in, NJ.com says citing news reports. Kmart vacated its anchor store at Somers Point Plaza, a popular shopping center off of Route 9.  Target Corp also has plans to replace a shuttered Kmart store in Wall, Monmouth County, and Kearney in Hudson County. A shuttered Kmart store in Mercer County is being replaced by a popular discount Grocery Outlet store as reported here by Daily Voice.

Loaded Handgun, Hollow Point Ammo Recovered In Atlantic City Arrest Atlantic City police capped an investigation into the possession of illegal weapons with an arrest of a man carrying a loaded gun, authorities said. Members of the Atlantic City Task Force arrested Donald Segar Jr 29, of Mays Landing, at Indiana and McKinley avenues on Sept. 30, according to a police department spokesman. A pedestrian was reportedly struck by a vehicle at about 8:45 a.m. Saturday near 90 Wilson Avenue in Manalapan, according to initial reports  The crash victim was taken to an area hospital, reports said. At about 10:30 a.m., also in Monmouth County, first responders were called to a report of an overturned vehicle in the first block of Route 9 in Marlboro. The vehicle reportedly jumped the curve. More details on the extent of injuries were not immediately available.

Motorist Trapped, Airlifted After Route 1 Collision In Mercer County EMS crews were called to a serious crash in Mercer County, authorities said. The crash occurred about 9:30 a.m. Saturday on Route 1 at Carnegie Center Boulevard in West Windsor, initial reports said. The motorist reportedly was trapped and had to be airlifted by medical helicopter to an area hospital, reports said.  About 1:30 p.m., there was a separate crash reported in Trenton at North Hermitage Avenue and West State Street. Two crash victims were taken to a regional hospital, according to initial reports. Additional details were not immediately available.

First Responders Called In Separate Route 9 Woodbridge Crashes Police, firefighters and EMS crews responded to two separate Route 9 crashes, authorities said. The first crash reportedly involved a pedestrian about 6:30 a.m. Saturday at Routes 1 and 9 southbound south of Randolph Avenue, according to initial reports.  That victim was taken to Robert Wood University Hospital in New Brunswick. A second crash was reported on Route 9 near Green Street about 9:30 a.m., reports said. An unconfirmed report said that collision was head-on. Serious Crash Reported In Central Jersey First responders were called on a report of a single-car crash in Monmouth County, authorities said.  The crash occurred about 7:30 p.m. on County Route 547 at Allaire Road in Howell Township, initial reports said. An unconfirmed report said that CPR was in progress on one of the crash victims.The condition of the crash victim was not immediately available,  A second unconfirmed report said a crash victim was administered NARCAN by police, a drug typically used to counteract drug overdoses. Atlantic City Man, 33, Wounded By Gunfire Atlantic City police are investigating a shooting that took place earlier Thursday. At 6:29 a.m., police responded to Indiana and Hummock avenues on a ShotSpotter alert.  Atlantic City police found a man suffering from a gunshot wound, according to Lt.
