An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Ossining Voters Approve School Budget OSSINING, N.Y. -- Voters in the Ossining School District approved the 2016-2017 budget on Tuesday. The $125.2 million budget was approved 1,150 to 497. It increases spending 6.84 percent and increases the tax levy by 1.81 percent.

Croton-Harmon School Budget Approved CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- Croton-Harmon's budget for the 2016-2017 school year was approved Tuesday. The $45.9 million budget was approved 500 to 119. The budget decreases spending by .37 percent and increases taxes by .2 percent. Iris Cross-Bugliosi and Joshua Diamond ran unopposed for the school board.

Lakeland Voters Approve 2016-2017 Budget SHRUB OAK, N.Y. -- Voters in the Lakeland School District approved the 2016-2017 budget Tuesday. The $161.1 million budget was approved 886-211. The budget did not increase spending and carried .5 percent tax levy increase.

Hendrick Hudson Voters Approve Budget MONTROSE, N.Y. -- Voters liked what they saw in the 2016-2017 Hendrick Hudson school budget Tuesday. The $75.9 million budget was approved 536-163. It carries a .005 percent tax increase and a 1.97 percent spending increase.

Briarcliff Voters Approve School Budget BRIARCLIFF, N.Y. -- The 2016-2017 Briarcliff school district budget was overwhelmingly approved by voters Tuesday. Voters approved the budget 423-143. Ken Torosian and Paul Wasserman ran unopposed for two school board seats.

Bruin Spotted In Peekskill Proceeds To Swim Toward Bear Mountain PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- A bear was seen enjoying the Hudson River Monday night. After the bear was spotted near the Charles Point Marina at about 8 p.m., police cleared the scene about an hour later when the bear swam back across the river toward, appropriately enough, Bear Mountain State Park, according to multiple reports. Bear sightings are at a record level in the Hudson Valley and state officials are tracking data on vehicle accidents involving bears. Dutchess County Voters Head To Polls For School Elections DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- School budgets and board of education seats are on the ballot Tuesday in Dutchess. Residents will be voting on public school budgets for the 2016-2017 school year, along with open seats on school boards. School districts must keep their budgets within a tax cap on the tax levy, around two percent. Districts wishing to override the cap must have their budgets approved by more than 60 percent. Westchester Native Dan Scavino Serves As Donald Trump Campaign Advisor Dan Scavino, a Yorktown High School graduate and Hopewell Junction resident, has spent more than half of his life working for Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee for president.
