Athol Woman Killed, 2 Injured In Head-On Western Mass Crash A 57-year-old Worcester County woman was killed after a car drifted into her lane and collided with her car on Friday afternoon, June 30, authorities said. Tracy Matthews, of Athol, was driving her Chevy Cobalt east in Franklin County on Route 2 in the town of Gill near Barton Cove Campground around 4 p.m. when a Mazda Miata crossed the center line and crashed into her, authorities said. Car Wreck In Boston Police are searching for the driver of a Honda Accord that officers say crashed into a motorcycle early Sunday morning, July 2, and seriously injured two men before speeding away. The crash happened just before 2 a.m. at the intersection of Arborway at South Street in Boston, Massachusetts State Police said. 2 Shot In Chicopee; Police Searching For Shooter Police in Hampden County are investigating a shooting early Friday morning, June 30, that sent two people to the hospital in Chicopee, authorities said. Chicopee police received a 911 call around 1:30 a.m. about a double shooting near the intersection of Grattan and Meadow streets, officials said. Both suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to an area hospital for treatment. Overdose Death Charge: Salem Man Busted After Allegedly Selling Drugs That Killed A 30-year-old Salem man has been charged with selling the drugs that lead to a fatal overdose, officials announced on Friday, June 30. Ericson Almonte-Rojas was charged with trafficking fentanyl more than 10 grams, unlicensed possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm during a felony, receiving stolen property, and possessing illegal ammunition, the Essex County District Attorney's Office said. Police Probing 'Unattended Death' At Sterling Police Station The Worcester County District Attorney's Office is investigating an "unattended death" at the Sterling Police Station last week. "Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office and Sterling Police continue to investigate the June 23 unattended death at the Sterling Police Department," a spokesperson for the district attorney said. Police ID Holyoke Man Found Shot To Death Last Week; Police Looking For Shooter Authorities in Hampden County released the identity of a man who was shot and killed in Holyoke on Friday, June 23. Edgar Soto-Irizarry, 30, of Holyoke, was found bleeding from a bullet wound around 9:20 a.m. on Appleton Street, the Hampton County District Attorney said. Police arrived after receiving a 911 call. Karl Exantus Guilty In 2019 Killing In Springfield; Will Spend Life In Prison A 35-year-old Hampden County man who was found guilty of first-degree murder earlier this month was sentenced to life in prison without parole on Tuesday, June 27, authorities said.
