Grant Will Aid Westport Firefighters In Pre-Fire Planning WESTPORT, Conn. -- The Westport Fire Department has received a $4,000 fire prevention grant from FM Global, a commercial property insurer. FM Global representative Meaghan Paul presented the award last week to Chief Andrew Kingsbury, Assistant Chief John Plofkin Jr. and Deputy Chief Robert Kepchar at Westport Fire Headquarters. The award will be used to assist with pre-fire planning activities in an effort to efficiently collect and track data related to local community buildings.  The information will help the fire service respond to emergencies.

When police stopped Jonathan Schupack, 32, at 10:07 p.m. for a traffic violation, he had an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, glassy eyes, and slurred speech, they said. He failed numerous field sobriety tests and was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated, according to police.
