Peekskill Resident Shares Photo Of Favorite Spot, Riverside Green PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- This "Photo of the Day" comes courtesy of Helen Peters, a longtime Peekskill resident (18 years and counting!) who took this photo of Riverside Green on New Year's Day, right after she watched part of the Polar Plunge. Peekskill Residents Plunge Into The Hudson For Charity PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- More than 30 participants took a dip in the Hudson River on New Year's Day as part of the Third Annual Polar Plunge, raising more than $10,000. The money benefits This is Me Foundation, an organization that helps to fund college scholarships for local students who have faced adversity or helped a friend through adversity. Proceeds also benefit students who have alopecia, an autoimmune disease that causes hair loss. The Polar Plunge was sponsored by The Quiet Man Public House. See earlier Daily Voice story here.

Cold Water, Warm Hearts In Rye Where Participants Raise Money For Charity RYE, N.Y. -- A record number of supporters braved the cold waters of Rye's Oakland Beach New Year's Day to spread awareness for MAC Angels Foundation, supporting families with ALS throughout the Tri-State area. The annual event also raised money for The Challenged Athletes Foundation. Later in the day, after everyone had dried off and warmed up, plungers were invited to Bar Harbor Grill in Mamaroneck for a performance by The Lacey Keene Band and the Visual Blues Band.

Reggae Dad Band Performs For The First Time In Darien DARIEN, Conn -- They're called the Accidental Breakdown, and they're playing for the first time at Darien Social on Jan. 3. But nothing about this rootsy reggae and blues ensemble is an accident.
