Jon graduated from Cornell University and received his master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Across a 35-year career, he's worked as a reporter for daily newspapers in Chicago, New York, Ohio & Washington, D.C and as managing editor for weekly newspapers in Rye, White Plains and Harrison.

First Responders Rescue Young Swimmer, 8, From South Jersey Pond First responders pulled a child out of a pond after a near-drowning in Burlington County, authorities said. The child, reported to be about 8 years old, reportedly was struggling to swim about 4 p.m. Thursday. About 20 minutes later, rescuers performing CPR succeeded in recovering the child's pulse, according to an unconfirmed report.
