Jon graduated from Cornell University and received his master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Across a 35-year career, he's worked as a reporter for daily newspapers in Chicago, New York, Ohio & Washington, D.C and as managing editor for weekly newspapers in Rye, White Plains and Harrison.

2 Central Jersey Modell's Stores Closing National retail chain Modell’s Sporting Goods is closing two stores in Central Jersey, company officials said. CEO Mitchell Modell announced last week 24 locations would close nationwide in an attempt to preserve the whole company and save the jobs of 4,300 families. The Central Jersey stores closing are located on Route 9 in Englishtown and Green Street in Woodbridge.  A third store in Camden County will also be closing, officials said. Lakewood Man Sentenced To 7 Years In Prison On Fentanyl, Weapons Charges A 35-year-old Lakewood man was sentenced to seven years in state prison, authorities said. Sherod Coleman was sentenced on Friday, said Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer. He was sentenced to seven years with a 42-month period of parole ineligibility. Coleman previously entered a guilty plea to possession with the intent to distribute Fentanyl. Judge Michael T. Collins also sentenced Coleman to five years with no parole eligibility in connection with his guilty plea on a weapons charge. The sentences will run concurrently. Barnegat Man, 37, Killed In Eagleswood Crash  A 37-year-old Barnegat man was killed in an Eagleswood crash over the weekend, authorities said. Michael J. Severin was behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Geo headed westbound on Forge Road when the car veered off the right side of the county highway and overturned just before 6 p.m. Saturday, New Jersey State Police said.
