Letter To The Editor: Tell Albany To Protect Families, Caregivers Daily Voice does not endorse the content of Letters to the Editor. To the Editor: My mother Lucy is 102 years old and has been a resident at St. Cabrini nursing home for almost five years now. Making the decision to place a loved one in a nursing home is complicated and stress inducing for a caregiver and their family.  After a lengthy search, I found St. Cabrini nursing home and I am grateful I did. My mother and father, married 62 years, raised my brother and me in the Bronx. When my father passed away twelve years ago, my mother moved in with me in Yonkers. Then seven yea…
Early Voting For First Time In Westchester: When, Where? Early Voting For First Time In Westchester: When, Where?
Early Voting For First Time In Westchester: When, Where? Are you confused about the election process? Before it gets better, it's about to get a little more complicated. Starting Saturday, Oct. 26, all New Yorkers can begin voting for candidates in the Nov. 5 election -- yes, nine days before usual. That's because of a new "early voting" law, making New York the 39th state to offer it. Most counties will be offering one early voting site. Westchester residents are being afforded the ability to vote at one or -- in some cases -- two polling places from noon to 5 p.m. on most days leading up to the standard Tuesday Election Day. On a few days, the …

Letter To The Editor: A Positive 'Obsession' About Kids' Safety Daily Voice does not endorse the content of Letters to the Editor. To the Editor: Hi, I’m Josh. Fairfielder and Little League dad. The time my family and I have spent cheering on our Little League fields has given us some of the best experiences we’ll ever have.Today, I’d like to talk about the pile of toxic garbage that’s been spread across these fields, smearing a black layer of fear across our town. What binds us all together is our desperate desire to keep our children safe. Nothing matters more. We all want to fix this mess conclusively, and make sure nothing like it ever happens agai…
Letter To The Editor: About Ossining's 'Project Forward' Letter To The Editor: About Ossining's 'Project Forward'
Letter To The Editor: About Ossining's 'Project Forward' Daily Voice does not endorse the content of Letters to the Editor. To the Editor: You may not have heard about “Project Forward." It is a Town of Ossining initiative to take away your right to elect positions. Let’s say that again, the initiative to take away your right to vote. What positions? Town Receiver of Taxes, Town Clerk, and Superintendent of Highways. As the former Receiver of Taxes Gloria Freid has written, appointing these positions opens the door to cronyism, and is a power grab by the Supervisor’s office. Under the current law, those that hold any of these elected offices mus…
Westchester Congressman Not As Well-Known At Home As On House Floor Westchester Congressman Not As Well-Known At Home As On House Floor
Westchester Congressman Not As Well-Known At Home As On House Floor U.S. Rep. Eliot Engel has been drawing plenty of primetime national attention while holding congressional hearings and giving speeches about foreign policy and impeachment on the floor of the House of Representatives. Yet all of that anti-President Trump publicity has not translated into higher public opinion numbers back home in Westchester and the Bronx, according to a new poll from Data for Progress. Engel has been a member of Congress for more than three decades, yet half of all poll respondents could not name Engel’s ideology. And six of every 10 registered Democrats said they aren’t s…

Overdue? Public Library Collects Nearly $400,000 In State Grants Hundreds of thousands of dollars can buy much more than a collection of Dr. Seuss or Roald Dahl children's books.  Kidding aside, Mount Pleasant Public Library is the recipient of nearly $400,000 in state grants for renovations to its popular children's room and energy-efficient lighting, heating and air conditioning throughout the library in Pleasantville.  At a press conference on Sept. 12, state Sen. CT Congressmen Rip Trump's Turkey Ceasefire CT Congressmen Rip Trump's Turkey Ceasefire
CT Congressmen Rip Trump's Turkey Ceasefire President Trump declared Thursday's ceasefire at the Turkish-Syrian border was "an incredible outcome." But the Republican's assessment was immediately shot down by congressional Democrats from Connecticut. U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal tweeted: "The President got rolled, & so did our national integrity. It is yet another betrayal to our Kurdish partners & a boon to our adversaries, Russia & Iran. "This illusory solution is a catastrophic, roundabout way for President Trump to give President Erdogan exactly what he wanted: a Kurdish withdrawal, & free reign over northern Syr…
