Three Shot, One Dead In Elizabeth: Prosecutors Three people were shot, one fatally, in Elizabeth on Monday, June 26, authorities said. At 8:30 p.m., Elizabeth police officers responded to the 600 block of Salem Avenue after receiving reports of multiple shot, the Union County Prosecutor's Office said. Upon arrival, police found three gunshot victims inside a vehicle, Gurley Edouard a 28-year-old Roselle resident, a 23-year-old woman and a 3-year-old girl, prosecutors said. Community Rallies Around Boy Critically Injured While Riding Bike Agel Khalifeh, a 13-year-old Clifton resident and rising 8th grader at Christopher Columbus Middle School, is in a coma after he was hit by a car while riding his bike on Sunday, June 25. Khalifeh suffered internal bleeding to the brain and stomach and has undergone multiple surgeries since the accident. Kearny Mayor Resigns After 23 Years, Appointed Superior Court Judge It's the end of an era in Kearny. Alberto Santos, who has been mayor since 2000, announced in a letter to the town council and municipal clerk on Monday, June 26, he is resigning after being confirmed as a Superior Court Judge by the state senate. Police Shootout: Gunman Hospitalized, Charged In Newark Incident A 30-year-old man was charged with aggravated assault after a police-involved shooting in Newark early Monday morning, June 26, authorities said. Police responded to a report of domestic violence in an apartment building on the 700 block of Clinton Avenue around 4 a.m., Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Shuttered Hackensack Carvel Cinnabon Relocating To Teaneck Carvel has apparently found a new home in Bergen County — and it's a Kosher one. The popular ice cream franchise announced it is opening a Carvel Cinnabon in Teaneck on 1389 Queen Anne Road after closing its location in Hackensack in January 2022.
