An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Peeping Tom Peering Into Secaucus Apartment Popped By Police An Essex County man was arrested in Secaucus after police said he was seen peering into an apartment window on the evening of Sunday, April 30. Jason Rosario, a 30-year-old Belleville resident, was spotted on scene by officers and began to run, police said. He got into a car and police initiated a traffic stop, where he was later arrested and charged with attempted burglary and criminal trespass, officers said. He was transferred to Hudson County Jail, police said. The investigation is ongoing, police said.

Gift Card Fraud: Two Arrested In Bayonne Two Brooklyn residents were arrested in Bayonne for using gift cards to skim money from ATMs, police said. Neculai Candet, 31, and Madalina Balmus, 41, were taken into custody on Friday, April 28, following a weeklong investigation, police said. On Friday, April 21, a man reported four withdrawals from an ATM at a CVS, at either 560 Avenue C or Goldsborough Drive, totaling $560, police said. Later that day, two more people reported $200 and $343 withdrawn from their bank accounts, respectively, police said. Four New Jerseyians Selected In NFL Draft It was a big weekend for New Jersey at the NFL Draft, as four players from the Garden State heard their name called and another Jerseysite gets to play football close to home. Ji'Ayir Brown, a safety who went to Trenton Central High School, was drafted in the 3rd round by the San Francisco 49ers. At Trenton Central, he was named all-conference as a junior and as a senior, he earned first-team all-state and all-conference. 'Tone It Down': Popular Secaucus Library Programmer Says He Was Fired Over His Lifestyle A popular host of online programs at the Secaucus library claims he was terminated because library higher ups did not approve of his "lifestyle." Jeffrey Machno has filed a complaint with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) after he said he contacted the board of trustees at the library to complain about how he was treated. GameStop Robbed At Gunpoint: Bayonne PD A GameStop was robbed at gunpoint in Bayonne on Thursday evening, April 27, Captain Eric Amato said. The robbers took more than $23,000 worth of merchandise from the store at 205 LeFante Way after displaying the handle of a handgun and fashioning it in a threatening manner, Amato said. The investigation is ongoing, Amato said. There were no reported injuries, Amato said.

Newark Man Convicted Of Severely Beating Girlfriend A Newark man faces up to five years in state prison after he was convicted of beating his girlfriend in 2019, sending her to the hospital, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens announced. Ahmir Worthy was found guilty on Thursday, April 27, of third degree aggravated assault following a three-day trial, after prosecutors say he punched, kicked and slammed his girlfriend against the wall while at a party. She was diagnosed with a concussion, and suffered contusions and deep bruising, Stephens said. Worthy will be sentenced on June 26, Stephens said.

Hillsdale Gymnast Featured In SI Swimsuit Issue Livvy Dunne fans will flip over this latest news. The popular college gymnast, who grew up in Hillsdale and is now attending Louisiana State University, is featured in Sports Illustrated's annual Swimsuit Issue, which hits newsstands next month. Dunne, who has made millions off her TikTok videos and has four million followers on Instagram, was photographed in Puerto Rico. She told Sports Illustrated being featured in the magazine was a dream come true.
