Body Recovered From Passaic River: Newark Police A body was recovered from the Passaic River in Newark on Wednesday, April 19, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. At 5 p.m., police responded to Bridge Street and McCarter Highway on a report of a body in the river, Fragé said. Firefighters, personnel from the Newark Police Emergency Services Unit and Kearney Police responded to the scene to assist with the recovery, Fragé said.  The body had drifted northbound due to the river's current, Fragé said. Gunman Nabbed In Mass Newark Shooting: Prosecutor A 42-year-old Irvington man has been arrested for the Saturday, April 15 mass shooting in Newark that left one man dead and three others injured. Antuane Gregory was arrested and charged with murder, among other charges, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II said.
