Before settling into the Hudson Valley, Zak! previously spent time in the New York Daily News newsroom and worked for hyperlocal digital news outlets on Long Island. He wrote sports for The Ithacan and The Ithaca Journal before taking his talents to the Pacific Northwest, where he served as the sports editor at the Shoshone News-Press until heading back east to work with Daily Voice.

Teen Dies After Stabbing At McDonald's In Maryland, Police Say A minor died at a Maryland hospital after being stabbed at a Harford County McDonald's, authorities confirmed. Officers from the Havre de Grace Police Department were called on Monday afternoon to the fast food joint on Pulaski Highway, where there were multiple calls for a stabbing involving two juveniles. Maryland Reports First Malaria Case Not Tied To Travel In Decades The Maryland Department of Health has confirmed a positive case of locally acquired malaria in a resident who lives in the National Capital Region. On Friday, Aug. 18, officials confirmed that a person has been hospitalized and is in recovery - while stressing that they did not recently travel outside of the US or other states where malaria is more prevalent.
