Incoming Storm Means Slight Air Quality Improvement Along East Coast, Forecasters Say A weekend storm could slightly help improve the Canadian wildfire smoke still lingering along the East Coast, meteorologists are saying. While skies will be sunny with a high in the mid-80s on Friday, June 30, they'll also be hazy for most of the day, according to the National Weather Service. The Air Quality Index remained in the triple digits along East Coast of 9:15 a.m., with code red issued across much of the area. Police ID Gunman Killed By Cops, Provide Details In Baltimore Shootout Police in Baltimore provided details in the officer involved shooting that left a civilian dead on Thursday, June 29. The ordeal began around 5:30 p.m. on the 100 block of Milton Avenue when officers recognized the 40-year-old man wanted on a warrant, Acting Police Commissioner Richard Worley said in a press conference. The man tried to flee, but his car broke down near Fairmount Avenue. That's when the man fired an automatic weapon at police, and struck a patrol vehicle, Worley said. Man Robs Woman, 47, At Dusk In Prince William County: Police A 26-year-old man is being held without bond after robbing a 47-year-old woman in Prince William County, authorities said. The victim was walking at the Markhams Grant Apartments, in the 2700 block of Landings Point Lp., in Woodbridge around 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, when a man later identified as Tyjuan Deon Bowdry approached her, county police said. Bowdry demanded the victim’s money and then fled on foot, police said. Bowdry, matching a description of the suspect, was found nearby and arrested, police said. Megan Eftink, 27, Killed In Spotsylvania Crash Mourned As 'Free Spirit' A 27-year-old woman who died in a Spotsylvania crash earlier this month is being mourned as a "free spirit" with lots of love to give. Megan Eftink is believed to have drifted from 10509 Tidewater Trail onto the "very soft shoulder" to the right, and overcorrected back onto the roadway and struck another vehicle around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office said in a release. Police ID Remains Found In Spotsylvania Woods Authorities have identified the remains found in a wooded area of Spotsylvania County earlier this month as those of a 67-year-old man. Charles Limbrick's body was found in the woods at 10600 Spotsylvania Avenue around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, Spotsylvania County Sheriff Roger Harris said. That particular area of the woods is known to be frequented by the homeless, the sheriff said. The discovery was made by a citizen collecting cans for recycling, Harris said. Air Quality Index Reaches Unhealthy Levels As Wildfire Smoke Descends On NJ Skies are looking hazier than usual this week in New Jersey, where Canadian wildfire smoke has yet again drifted into the area. While it's nothing like it was in early June, the smoke on Thursday, June 29 was enough to prompt a "code orange" in most of the state. In other words, unhealthy air quality out there. Creep Secretly Filmed Adults, Teen On Phone Hidden In NJ Family's Bathroom: Prosecutor A 32-year-old New Jersey man has been arrested on accusations he hid a cell phone to record people using a bathroom in a family home. Macarius Salib, of Marlboro, hid the phone in a laundry basket in the bathroom of a Pohatcong last March, to capture two adults and a 16-year-old, according to a release from the Warren County Prosecutor's Office.
