Driver Who Killed North Bergen Dog Walker Nabbed In Long Branch: Prosecutor A 30-year-old Jersey City man believed to have fatally struck a beloved 23-year-old dog walker on his motorcycle then fled the scene was captured at the Jersey Shore, authorities said. Julian Palacios was operating a blue Honda Civic when he struck Josh Huayamave around 9 p.m. Friday, May 5, near Granton Avenue and Liberty avenues in North Bergen, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Popular Marine Corps Park Reopens After Explosives Deemed It Dormant For Decade Marine Corps Base Quantico's Lunga Park has been dormant for a decade, but later this month, the Triangle park will reopen to the public with a grand celebration. The original recreation area, formerly known as Lunga Recreation Area, is located on the west side of Marine Corps Base Quantico, and will reopen Friday, May 26. A grand reopening celebration featuring a BBQ cook-off, rock climbing, free fishing, free watercraft rentals, and more will be held June 3 and 4. Hammer Wielding Inmate Finds Himself Back In Rappahannock Jail 2 Hours After Release An inmate released from the Rappahannock Regional Jail found himself right back in a holding cell for a crime committed seconds after being freed, authorities said. The unnamed Maryland man used a hammer to smash the windows on one of the jail's vans and magistrate's door, sometime around 3:20 a.m. Sunday, May 7, authorities in Stafford County said. Murder Suspect Charged In Alexandria Homicide: Police Authorities have arrested and charged a 28-year-old man in Alexandria's first homicide of the year, they said. Dontae LaShawn Drumgold, of Prince Willian County, is believed to have killed 25-year-old Elijah Williams, who was found dead in on the sidewalk around 6:50 a.m. on the 4500 block of Raleigh Avenue on March 23, police said. Drumgold has been charged with first-degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony, police said. He was being held without bail in the William G. Truesdale Adult Detention Center. Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Car In Prince William County A 38-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle Monday night, May 8 in Prince William County, authorities said. Abdul Bubu Kamara Jr., of Woodbridge, was crossing Potomac Shores Parkway near River Heritage Boulevard in Dumfries, when he was struck by a 29-year-old man in a 2010 Lexus R35, around 11:10 p.m., county police said. Fire and rescue personnel responded to the scene where Kamara was pronounced dead. The driver of the striking vehicle remained at the scene. Escaped Philadelphia Inmates Were Being Held On Homicide, Weapons Offenses A manhunt was under way Tuesday, May 9 for a pair of inmates who escaped a Philadelphia correction center. Police say Nasir Grant, 24, and Ameen Hurst, 18, escaped the facility on State Road sometime Sunday, May 7. The two apparently cut a hole in a fence in the recreation yard and made their great escape. “Clearly the system screwed up and people didn’t do what they were supposed to do,” said Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney at a news conference Monday evening. Hurst has been tied to homicides dating back to 2020 while Grant was being held on drug and weapons charges since last September.

8-Foot Shark Pings Off NJ Coast An eight-foot white shark pinged off the New Jersey coast on Monday, May 8. Jekyll, who has been tracked by shark research center OCEARCH since December 2022, made an appearance around 8:30 p.m., in Sea Isle City. It wasn't immediately known how far off the coast Jekyll was swimming. Jekyll spent quite some time off the coast of North Carolina before heading north along the Atlantic shoreline. Dump Truck Driver Was Using Phone During Fiery Crash That Killed Victim On Rt. 23: Prosecutor A dump truck driver was on his cell phone during a crash that left another driver dead on Route 23 in Morris County Monday, May 8, authorities said. Angel Carabello-Maldona, 45, of Newark, is facing a charge of reckless vehicular homicide after rear-ending a Chevy Traverse that was stopped at a light at Alexander Avenue in Pequannock around 5:20 a.m., Morris County Prosecutor Robert J.
