Hit-Run Driver, 18, Arrested In Deadly New Britain Pedestrian Crash: Police
An 18-year-old man has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run crash that killed one pedestrian and injured another in New Britain last December, authorities said.
Charlie Rodriguez surrendered to New Britain Police Headquarters on Thursday, Feb. 6, where he was processed without incident, New Britain spokesperson Rachel Zaniewski said.
Rodriguez is accused of fleeing the scene after striking two pedestrians near 237 Broad Street on Dec. 9, 2024, police said. One victim died, and the other was injured, officials said. Authorities did not release the name of the victim who died.

A 24-year-old man was arrested for driving under the influence after a Connecticut State trooper found him asleep in his car on the shoulder of I-95, authorities said.
At approximately 3:18 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2025, a Troop E-Montville Trooper stopped to check on what appeared to be a disabled vehicle in the northbound lanes near Exit 91, Connecticut State Police said.

Woman Who Opened Fire In Bristol Police Station Takes Plea Deal: 'We Are Satisfied'
A Connecticut woman accused of opening fire inside the Bristol Police Department lobby has taken a plea deal, officials said.
Suzanne Laprise, 51, of Plainville, pleaded guilty in New Britain Court in connection with the October 6, 2023, shooting inside the station, Bristol Police Chief Mark Morello said in a statement. Laprise admitted to a charge of an attempt to commit assault.
Laprise arrived at the police department at 11:38 p.m. on Oct. 5, 2023, after drinking at a bar in Bristol, according to an investigation by the Office of the Inspector General (OIG).
