Pleasantville native Jon Craig is special editor for the Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Orange and Dutchess Daily Voice sites. He is also the primary reporter for Daily Voice Plus Politics in Westchester and Fairfield.

Jon graduated from Cornell University and received his master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Across a 35-year career, he's worked as a reporter for daily newspapers in Chicago, New York, Ohio & Washington, D.C and as managing editor for weekly newspapers in Rye, White Plains and Harrison.

Jon also writes periodically for the Cornell Chronicle.

Hunting Dog Rescued After A Week In Drain Pipe: Police An 8-year-old hunting dog was trapped in a drain pipe for a week until first responders and residents rescued him. Medford Township Police, Medford Fire, and Medford Neighborhood Services worked to free Dylan, a coonhound, overnight on Sunday, July 24. It took several hours to free the dog who was taken to Mount Laurel Animal Hospital and is expected to make a full recovery. Shooting Reported In Atlantic City: Police A man was wounded in a weekend shooting in Atlantic City, authorities said. On Saturday, July 23, at 2:40 a.m., Atlantic City patrol officers responded to the 1400 block of Central Avenue for a report of someone shot.  Police found a man who was shot and evidence of gunfire, they said. The victim, 27, of Atlantic City, was taken to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, for treatment of injuries that were non-life-threatening. Firefighters Battle Brush Fire In South Jersey Firefighters were battling a large brush fire in Burlington County. The fire had consumed about seven acres as of Friday afternoon, July 22, initial reports said. Pemberton Township Volunteer Fire Department said it was assisting the New Jersey Forest Fire Service. The fire is on Ridgeview Avenue behind Browns Mills Arms Apartments. No structures were in danger and there had been no evacuations, the fire department said. Ridgeview Avenue was closed between Junction and Lakehurst roads. State forest fire crews were continuing backfiring operations, officials said.
