A Morris County ShopRite cashier was arrested after police say he stole about $1,000 from his cash register over the course of several months.
Pedro Sandoval-Ayala, 22, is accused of stealing the funds from his register at the Hanover Avenue store, Hanover Police Chief Michael Loock said in a Tuesday release.
Loss prevention officers saw Sandoval-Ayala taking the funds and detained him before contacting police, who arrested him on Wednesday, Feb. 16, Loock said.
Sandoval-Ayala, of Morristown, stole a total of about $1,000 “over [the] last few months,” police said.

A driver and passenger were charged after numerous drugs including crack cocaine, Molly, and Xanax were found in a car that was pulled over for bearing bogus license plates, authorities said.
Cesar O. Nunez, 32, was driving on Route 22 when he was stopped for having fictitious license plates around 2:05 a.m. on Monday, March 7, Readington Township Police said.
A follow-up search of the vehicle turned up crack cocaine, police said.
Meanwhile, the front seat passenger, Brooklyn resident Delano D. Muller, 33, was found with suspected Xanax, Clonazepan, and Molly, police said.

A Morris County man spat at investigating officers and damaged a wall at police headquarters as he was being processed for an unrelated matter, authorities said.
Marcellis Smallwood, 18, was being processed at Mount Olive Township Police Headquarters on Flanders Drakestown Road in Budd Lake when he spat at officers numerous times around 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, authorities said.
Smallwood, of Flanders, also damaged a wall next to where he was sitting, township police said.

Lehigh Valley Man Charged With Felony Child Endangerment
A Lehigh Valley man was charged with felony child endangerment after assaulting multiple victims, authorities said.
Officers responding to the argument on E. Main Street in Pen Argyl found Jared A. Dotter, 33, leaving the scene around 6:55 p.m. on Friday, March 4, Slate Belt Regional Police said in a Monday release.
A follow-up investigation found that Dotter had assaulted multiple victims, including children, police said.
Dotter was arrested and charged with felony child endangerment, simple assault, and harassment.
