UPDATE: The police investigation was the result of a fire that destroyed Chatham Sandwich Shop on Main Street. Read more here. ------------------------------ An active police investigation in Chatham caused a closure on Main Street early Wednesday, authorities said. Main Street was closed between Fairmount and N. Passaic Avenue around 7:50 a.m., Chatham Borough Police Det. Sgt. Michael E. Bochniak told DailyVoice.com. “Please plan accordingly,” Bochniak said.

Alert Issued For Missing 14-Year-Old Newark Boy
Police have issued an alert for a missing 14-year-old boy from Newark. Al-Samir Williams, pictured above, was last seen in the area of Nairin Place near Vernon Avenue around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara said. Williams has a medium brown complexion, stands 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 160 pounds, O’Hara said. He may be wearing black Adidas sweatpants and a black bubble jacket. QuickChek Opens Another NJ Location
QuickChek store has opened another New Jersey store. The Readington Township store opened Tuesday at 3483 Route 22 E., not far from its headquarters at 3 Old Hwy. 28 in Whitehouse Station. In addition to 24-hour operation, the new store occupies nearly 5,500 square feet, offering both indoor and outdoor seating and a total of 10 fuel pumps, according to NJ.com. Dog Back In Shelter After Being Returned By North Jersey Family
A dog that was adopted from a North Jersey animal shelter months ago was returned by her new family and is once again looking for a furever home. Bergen County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center, based in Teterboro, said in a social media post that Luna — a loving 7.5-year-old Pit mix adopted about a month ago — was returned after having been in the shelter since June 2021. 3-Car Crash Causes Fluid Leak On Route 46
A three-car crash caused a fluid leak on Route 46 Tuesday morning, authorities said. The vehicles collided and began leaking fluid near Route 46 and Boulevard in Mountain Lakes just after 7:35 a.m., the local volunteer fire department said. Crew members worked to absorb the leaking fluids and requested a towing company to the scene, which was cleared in about 25 minutes. “Thankfully no injuries or entrapment were reported,” the department said. A 17-year-old male student was charged with criminal sexual contact following two incidents involving a female classmate at a Hudson County high school, authorities announced Tuesday. The fire broke out at a three-story building on the 3100 block of Charlotte Avenue in Palmer Township on Monday afternoon.
