Chappaqua Community Rallies Around Family After 2-Year-Old Dies WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Chappaqua and Mount Kisco communities are coming together for the family of Matias Lenis-Gomez, who died on Sunday after being pulled from a pond in Chappaqua. A GoFundMe page has been set up for Matias' family, who live in Mount Kisco. Matias was found in a pond on Whippoorwill Road after he was reported missing Sunday afternoon. He was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital where he was pronounced dead. In one day, $7,450 has been raised, with 109 people making donations. The goal is to raise $10,000. More Than $50,000 Raised For Family Of Pleasantville Basketball Star PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- Jon Lieb has witnessed firsthand how the Pleasantville community has come together to support the family of Quentin Lupo. Lupo, a Pleasantville High School senior, who starred on the Pleasantville Panthers basketball team, was found dead Wednesday of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Lieb set up a GoFundMe to raise money for the Lupo family. In four days, 457 people have donated $51,000. The initial goal was to raise $10,000 to cover funeral expenses. Four Running For Wappingers School Board HOPEWELL JUNCTION, N.Y. -- The Wappingers Board of Education elections this spring will be uncontested. There are four candidates running for four available seats. Three seats are for full three-year terms while another seat is to fill an unexpired term. Incumbent Peggy Lumia is running for another term along with Keith Odums, John Lumia and Tracy Pelton. DOT Hosting Public Meeting On Route 100C Bridge Replacement Project The State Department of Transportation is hosting a public information session on the proposed bridge replacement of Route 100C over Route 9A and the improvement of Route 100C with Old Saw Mill River Road intersection in Mount Pleasant Thursday. The meeting will be held from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Mount Pleasant Court Room, 1 Town Hall Plaza in Valhalla. Lakeland Seeks Reimbursement Of Overpayments Made To School Board Trustee The Lakeland Board of Education said it is taking action after an investigation revealed they were overpaying a school board member to staff sporting events. Steve Rosen, a four-term trustee who was re-elected last year, was paid $22,690 from the Lakeland School District since 2008, according to a Tax Watch investigation by LoHud. School board members are only allowed to earn $750 a year from the district. The district paid Rosen to run the clock and provide security at high school games, according to LoHud. Five Rye Neck Juniors Earn Honorable Mention At National Math Competition RYE NECK, N.Y. -- A team of five Rye Neck High School students used their knowledge and critical thinking skills to solve an applied mathematics problem when they competed in Moody’s Mega Math Challenge, a national online math competition.
