An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Open Space Institute Protects Hudson Valley Heritage Trail Network GARRISON, N.Y. -- A Putnam County trail network will be permanently preserved. The Open Space Institute had announced the protection of the trail network at Manitoga, a National Historic Landmark and Hudson Valley cultural attraction in Garrison. Police Investigate Serious Taconic State Parkway Crash In Mount Pleasant MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. -- State police are investigating a motor vehicle accident that occurred on the Taconic Parkway Wednesday afternoon. The accident took place near Pleasantville Road shortly after noon. Hawthorne Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the scene. Man ID'd In Fatal Red Hook Crash RED HOOK, N.Y. -- A 49-year-old man has been identified as the victim of a one-car crash on Route 9 in Red Hook Monday morning, according to John Watterson of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office. The accident occurred neared the border of Columbia County.Robert Yowell of Albany was unconscious and trapped in the vehicle, and was later pronounced dead at the scene, police said. A preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling southbound when it left the roadway and struck a tree, police said.
