An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Churches in Pleasantville, Peekskill Awarded Grants From Conservancy Group PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- St. John's Episcopal Church in Pleasantville and St. Peter's Church in Peekskill were two of 14 churches that received site grants from the New York Landmarks Conservancy.The conservancy awarded $25,000 to St. John’s Episcopal Church in Pleasantville to assist with roofing, masonry and drainage repairs to the church and parish hall, and $25,000 to St. Peter’s Church in Peekskill to assist with restoration of the slate roof, bell tower structural frame, roof and masonry. “These grants mark the 30-year milestone of our Sacred Sites Program and demonstrate, once again, that …

Doctor Represents Edgemont At Summer Olympics EDGEMONT, N.Y. -- A doctor from Edgemont is attending the Summer Olympic Games in Rio.Dr. Naresh Rao is the physician for the Team USA Water Polo team. Rao works as a partner at a sports medicine firm in Manhattan and recently published "Step Up Your Game," which discusses his career in sports medicine and how athletes should take care of themselves. Rao was previously the physician for Team USA at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto. He moved back to New York in 2011.

Westchester Job Training Program Boot Camp Helps Unemployed Find Work VALHALLA, N.Y. -- A job training program boot camp led by Westchester County has helped more 40 people find employment.The program helps individuals learn about networking skills and how to conduct themselves when looking for employment. Two Verplanck Teens Charged With Burglarizing Italian-American Club CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- Two teenagers have been arrested and charged with burglarizing the Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Society. Miguel Reyes and Benjaman Knowles, both 18-year-olds from Verplanck, were charged with burglary in the third degree, (a Class D felony). Reyes was arrested on July 18 while Knowles was arrested on August 6. Knowles was also charged with unlawful possession of alcohol by a person under 21. Yorktown Native Kayaks From Lake Champlain To Key West YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- Larry Jensen is on the trip of a lifetime. Jensen, who grew up in Yorktown, is kayaking by himself from Lake Champlain to Key West. Jensen, who started the trip on July 2, was in Brooklyn about to head to New Jersey on August 3.
