Equal parts Lois Lane, J. Jonah Jameson and Vicki Vale, Zak! has traveled from coast-to-coast covering small and big town community news in both in print and online for nearly a decade since his graduation from the award-winning Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College in 2010.

Before settling into the Hudson Valley, Zak! previously spent time in the New York Daily News newsroom and worked for hyperlocal digital news outlets on Long Island. He wrote sports for The Ithacan and The Ithaca Journal before taking his talents to the Pacific Northwest, where he served as the sports editor at the Shoshone News-Press until heading back east to work with Daily Voice.

Man Rescued From Sinking Ship Off Long Island Sound Shore In New Rochelle Video has been released of a daring rescue after NYPD special ops officers made a save of a man on a sinking boat on the Long Island Sound off the shore in Westchester. Members of the New York Police Department were called in to make a rescue in New Rochelle after his boat went down in the Sound, officials said. The incident happened early on Thursday, April 21. According to the NYPD, rescue swimmers were able to make quick contact with the boater, who was transferred to a Coast Guard boat nearby and taken to shore safely. No injuries were reported. Investigation Of Endangered Cattle Breed Results In Animal Cruelty Charges In Western Mass An investigation into rare “Kerry” cattle in Western Massachusetts led to a host of charges for a woman accused of animal cruelty.
