Equal parts Lois Lane, J. Jonah Jameson and Vicki Vale, Zak! has traveled from coast-to-coast covering small and big town community news in both in print and online for nearly a decade since his graduation from the award-winning Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College in 2010.

Before settling into the Hudson Valley, Zak! previously spent time in the New York Daily News newsroom and worked for hyperlocal digital news outlets on Long Island. He wrote sports for The Ithacan and The Ithaca Journal before taking his talents to the Pacific Northwest, where he served as the sports editor at the Shoshone News-Press until heading back east to work with Daily Voice.

Security Upped At CT High School After Student Brings Loaded Gun To Class There was an increased police presence at a Connecticut high school after a student was arrested for bringing a loaded handgun into the building earlier this week. Man Slumped Over Wheel Resuscitated By Officers In Region Police officers in the region came to the aid of a 62-year-old man who was suffering a medical emergency in the middle of a busy intersection. Shortly before 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 30 in Sullivan County, Monticello Police Officer Justin Dawson came across a stationary car at a green traffic light at the intersection of Bank Street and Broadway. Westchester Village To Opt Out Of Legalized Cannabis At least one village in Westchester will not be joining most of the rest of New York in selling or allowing legal cannabis within its jurisdiction. Man Arrested On Assault Charges After Allegedly Abusing Parents In Westchester A 38-year-old man is behind bars after allegedly assaulting his father at his Westchester home and beating his mother with an umbrella, police said. Man Who Fell From Overpass Dies After Being Struck By Vehicle On Route 15, CT State Police Say A Connecticut man was killed after falling off an overpass and being struck by a vehicle on Route 15, State Police said. Alleged Red Bull Thief Wanted By Police On Long Island Police investigators on Long Island are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a wanted man who allegedly stole more than two dozen cans of Red Bull from an area CVS. Off-Duty Police Officer Charged With DWI, Leaving Scene Of Crash In Hudson Valley An off-duty police officer in the Hudson Valley has been accused of driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a crash.
