Before settling into the Hudson Valley, Zak! previously spent time in the New York Daily News newsroom and worked for hyperlocal digital news outlets on Long Island. He wrote sports for The Ithacan and The Ithaca Journal before taking his talents to the Pacific Northwest, where he served as the sports editor at the Shoshone News-Press until heading back east to work with Daily Voice.

Wrong-Way Long Island Expressway Driver Charged With DWI A driver was allegedly intoxicated when he entered the Long Island Expressway and proceeded to drive the wrong way on the roadway before being busted by an officer on patrol, police said. Suffolk County PD officer Weldon Drayton was driving westbound on the LIE near exit 51 in Dix Hills at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 12, when he saw a 2010 Mazda MZ6 driving toward the Expressway from the wrong direction on the off-ramp, according to police. An alert has been issued by police on Long Island as they seek the public’s assistance in tracking down a wanted woman who was busted for allegedly driving while intoxicated and child abuse. Covid-19: Vaccine Mandate 'Certainly An Option,' For Students In NY, Hochul Says New York Gov. Kathy Hochul floated the idea of mandating children get vaccinated for COVID-19, though she said the decision will remain up to parents for the time being. Two Suspects Tracked Down In Westchester Park After Stealing Car, Police Say Two suspects in their 30s were tracked down by police after being busted in an allegedly stolen car, authorities said.
