Before settling into the Hudson Valley, Zak! previously spent time in the New York Daily News newsroom and worked for hyperlocal digital news outlets on Long Island. He wrote sports for The Ithacan and The Ithaca Journal before taking his talents to the Pacific Northwest, where he served as the sports editor at the Shoshone News-Press until heading back east to work with Daily Voice.

Wrong Turns, Low Flying Led To Maryland Plane Crash Into Electrical Tower: NTSB Report Authorities say that a series of wrong turns and a pilot flying below minimum altitude levels were among the contributing factors that led to a small plane crash in Maryland last month. Judge Rules To Seal Legal Battle On Release Of Catholic Clergy Sexual Abuse Report In Maryland A circuit court judge in Maryland has ruled that all proceedings tied to the release of Attorney General Brian Frosh's report depicting accusations of sexual abuse of hundreds of underage victims by members of the Archdiocese of Baltimore be sealed. Former Maryland Volunteer Firefighter Sentenced For Intentionally Setting Vacant House Blazes A volunteer firefighter in Maryland who sparked, not fought several blazes at vacant homes in Prince George's County has been sentenced, the state's attorney announced. New HOV Requirements On I-66 Officially Take Effect In Virginia: Department Of Transportation New HOV rules took effect on Monday on the new I-66 Express Lanes in Northern Virginia. As of Monday, Dec. 5, carpoolers will be required to have at least three - not two people in their vehicle, with an E-ZPass Flex transponder switched to "HOV On” mode to bypass the tolls in those lanes, otherwise, motorists will have to pay a toll that will vary, depending on the flow of traffic.
