Before settling into the Hudson Valley, Zak! previously spent time in the New York Daily News newsroom and worked for hyperlocal digital news outlets on Long Island. He wrote sports for The Ithacan and The Ithaca Journal before taking his talents to the Pacific Northwest, where he served as the sports editor at the Shoshone News-Press until heading back east to work with Daily Voice.

Toddler's Traumatic Death In Maryland Ruled A Homicide By Medical Examiner Doctors in Maryland have ruled the death of a 1-year-old toddler in Baltimore a homicide, police say. Officers from the Baltimore Police Department were called at approximately 12:14 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4 to the 2700 block of Ellicott Driveway for a report of an unresponsive baby. Upon arrival, officers rendered aid to 1-year-old Nymeia Gillard, who ultimately was pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics. Man, Dog Suffer Serious Burns In Massive Maryland Trailer Fire A man and dog both suffered critical injuries in Maryland when a trailer parked at a Harford County business went up in flames on Tuesday night. At approximately 8:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18, a passerby reported to the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company that there was a massive blaze that broke out on the property of B&T Services on Pulaski Highway in Joppatowne. Police Identify Man Whose Body Was Found Burned To Death On Maryland Street Police investigators in Maryland have identified the man whose burning body was found in Baltimore over the weekend. Bernard Stein III was found at approximately 11:11 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16 by officers responding to the 1000 block of East 20th Street, near the intersection of Kennedy Avenue, where there were reports of a burning body, officials said. At the scene, Baltimore City Fire Department members were able to extinguish the fire, and police said that Stein's remains were found, though it took nearly 48 hours to identify his body.
