Man Fatally Struck By Train In Summit, Trains Delayed 60 Minutes: Authorities A man was fatally struck by a train at the Summit Station on the afternoon of Monday, July 24, NJ Transit officials said. At 1:20 p.m., a Morris and Essex line train en route to Hoboken fatally struck the man, whose name has not been identified, officials said. There were no injuries to the 45 customers or crew on board, officials said. Train traffic on the Morris and Essex line is currently suspended in both directions with delays in the area of approximately 60 minutes, officials said. Bergenfield Lotto Player Wins Big Money Friday, July 21 was a day to win lots of money for lottery players in New Jersey. Three players in Bergen County, Hudson County and Monmouth County matched four of the white balls and the Gold Mega Ball in Friday's NJ Lotto drawing, winning $10,000. The ticket purchased in Bergen was purchased with the Megaplier option, multiplying the prize to $20,000. The tickets were purchased at Foster Stationery in Bergenfield, 7-Eleven in Kearny and KDM Mart in Howell. The winning numbers were: 29, 40, 47, 50, and 57. The Gold Mega Ball was 25, and the Megaplier Multiplier was 02.

Family IDs Drowned Teen At Devil's Hole Miguel Pena, a 16-year-old Newark, resident drowned at the notorious Devil's Hole in Cedar Grove Community Park on Saturday, July 8. Pena's mother is a single mother of five and had emigrated from the Dominican Republic 11 months ago.  A fundraiser was created by Pena's cousin, Mardelin Payano, to assist the family with funeral expenses. As of Monday, July 24, more than $3,715 has been raised. Swimming at Devil's Hole has been banned since a 2018 drowning due to currents that can make it very dangerous. Man Fatally Shot In Newark: Authorities A 32-year-old Newark man was fatally shot on the early morning of Saturday, July 22, authorities said. At 3:16 a.m., police responded to a report of a shooting on the 600 block of Broadway,  Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. They found Carlos Zayas outside at the location suffering from a gunshot wound, Stephens and Fragé said. Man Extradited Back To NJ, Charged With Murdering Sister-In-Law, 9-Year-Old Niece Everoy Morrison, a 44-year-old Roselle resident, has been extradited back to New Jersey from Maryland to face charges of bludgeoning his 45-year-old sister-in-law and 9-year-old niece to death, authorities said. Morrison was charged with two counts of first degree murder back in May.
