An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Newly Minted Millionaire: Lotto Winner Wins Big In Paterson A lottery player in Paterson hit the jackpot in Patterson in the drawing held on Saturday, June 24. One ticket matched all five numbers in the Jersey Cash 5 jackpot, netting the lucky winner $1.35 million. The ticket was sold at Florida Drugs and Liquor in Paterson. Jersey City Teen Fatally Shot By Bayonne Man: Prosecutors A 17-year-old boy was fatally shot in Jersey City on Saturday evening, June 24, authorities said. At 8:02 p.m., police were notified of a shooting at 16th Street and Coles Street, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Upon arrival, police found Isaiah Vasquez suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso, Suarez said. Valesquez was transferred to Jersey City Medical Center where he was soon pronounced dead, Suarez said. 2020 Homicide Victim Finally Identified: Union County Prosecutors After three years, the remains of a woman's body found in Elizabeth have been identified, authorities announced on Friday, June 23. In June 2020, the body of 23-year-old Jasmine Featherstone, an Elizabeth resident, was discovered along the railroad tracks in the area of the 300 block of Port Avenue, Union County Prosecutor William Daniel said. An autopsy determined her death to be a homicide. Authorities were able to identify Featherstone using DNA testing, Daniel said. Man Stole Seven Packages From One Mailroom: Hoboken Police A 48-year-old North Bergen man was arrested and charged with stealing numerous packages in Hoboken, police said. Christian Porchiazzo turned himself into police on Thursday, June 15 after a weekslong investigation after they received multiple complaints of package thefts in the city, officers said. Porchiazzo stole seven packages from a mailroom of a condominium on the 1300 block of Grand Street in April, police said. He was charged with burglary and theft, police said.
