Man Fatally Shot In Newark: Authorities A 37-year-old Newark man was shot and killed early Friday morning, May 19, authorities said. At 2:35 a.m., police responded to a report of a shooting on the 100 block of Lindsley Avenue, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. Soon after, they received a report on the 200 block of Sunset Avenue and located Wesley Murphy in a car suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Stephens and Fragé said. Murder: Arrest Made In Death Of Norelis Mendoza An arrest has been made in the death of 32-year-old New Jersey mom Norelis Mendoza, authorities said. Gregory Mallard, 35, of Jersey City, was arrested on Friday, May 19, according to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, who disclosed few other details other than his charges. She did note, though, that the killing was an act of domestic violence. Mallard was slapped with charges of first degree murder and multiple charges of improperly disposing of human remains, among other charges, Suarez said. 9-Year-Old Elizabeth Resident Dies Dave Alex Grande passed away on Monday, April 24 at the age of 9, according to his obituary. Grande was an Elizabeth resident and attended Joseph Battin School No. 4. The Elizabeth Board of Education held a moment of silence for him at its meeting on Thursday, May 11. "Alex was a kind kid and funny, and he love giving warm hugs to me. A jury found Michael Rogers guilty of first degree murder and other charges on Thursday, May 18, for his involvement in the shooting death of Antwoine Thompson, Union County Prosecutor William Daniel said.
