An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Village, Police Agree To New Contract In Ossining OSSINING, N.Y. -- After 2.5 years, the Village of Ossining and the Village of Ossining Police Benevolent Association have agreed to a new contract. "This agreement reflects the genuine goodwill that both sides brought to the table," Ossining Mayor Victoria Gearity said. Under the terms of the agreement, the officers will receive "significant" salary increases, but will also be tripling contributions to their health insurance premiums. Tarrytown Fire Displaces Four Families TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- A Tuesday morning fire on White Street in Tarrytown displaced four families, the Red Cross said. The fire was caused by welders doing work on the property, according to LoHud. Firefighters got the fire under control in 45 minutes and there were no injuries, according to lohud.com. Carolyn Sherwin of the Red Cross said the four families, 10 adults and five children all have places to stay and were given personal items that were lost in the fire. Irvington, Ardsley, Dobbs Ferry, Sleepy Hollow, Central Nyack, Elmsford and Ossining provided assistance.

Teddy bears line the shelves at Candy Rox with camp names on their t-shirts. Rye AP Photography students are having their work displayed in an exhibit next to Poppy's Luncheonette. Students were required to prepare a portfolio of 24 pieces to submit to the College Board. The Little Thai Kitchen also recently opened a Rye location at 2 Purchase Street while Hudson Paul Salon is having a grand re-opening.

Cookie Monster Spotted Outside Longford's In Rye RYE, N.Y. --  Cookie Monster was dancing outside of Longford’s Ice Cream Parlor on Elm Street Thursday, celebrating the last full week of school for Rye children. “It is an annual celebration,” according to the owner Christine Vita. "We like to give back to the community.”  Local Rye children were getting their faces painted outside the store. One of Longford’s popular ice cream flavors is called Cookie Monster. It is made with vanilla ice cream, chocolate chips and is the color blue.
