An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Pleasantville Woman Publishes 'Divine' New Book PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- A Pleasantville resident recently published her first novel. Danielle R. Mani is the author of The Divine One about a high school senior bullied by a group of girls. Delilah, the main character, also is dealing with the loss of her sister Darcy. Delilah's mother believes Darcy is sending messages from beyond the grave. Putnam Valley Supervisor Tendy Eagerly Awaits Run For Putnam County DA PUTNAM VALLEY, N.Y. -- Putnam Valley Supervisor Bob Tendy would like to change offices and become the next district attorney of Putnam County. Tendy said he is running for the office of district attorney in 2015 against incumbent Adam Levy, who has not formally announced he is seeking re-election. Tendy, a Republican, intends to face Levy in the primary election. "I intend to step up and call him on his actions for what he has done to the common trust and law enforcement," Tendy said. Putnam Valley's Fun-Filled German Festival Starts Saturday PUTNAM VALLEY, N.Y. -- In Putnam Valley this weekend, everyone will be a little bit Deutsch. Putnam Valley's Annual German Festival is taking place from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, July 19 and 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 20 at 11 Kramers Pond Road. The event will feature live music from Die Spitzbaum, Henry Leschke and Eric Bayer. Passenger Jet Crash In Ukraine Shocks Putnam Residents PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- Putnam County residents were stunned by the news of a Malaysian airliner that the United State has said was shot down over the Russian-Ukrainian border Thursday. According to reports, the Boeing 777 was en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur with 280 passengers and 15 crew. There have been reports that 23 Americans were on the flight. Hillside Food Outreach In Pleasantville Plans Unique Fundraiser PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- Hillside Food Outreach in Pleasantville is going to the desert to raise funds. Steve Plake, a Hillside board member, will race 1,000 miles through the Baja desert on his motorcycle in September and is seeking donations of either a fixed amount or per mile.
