An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

That's one of the lessons Ossining resident Carly Steif learned when she taped an episode of TLC's "What Not To Wear," airing Friday at 10 p.m. Steif's friends nominated her feeling that her wardrobe was holding her back in life and love. According to Steif, she was wearing a lot of hoodies and shirts with cartoon characters. "They thought I was not dressing appropriately for my age," Steif said. Children Evacuated After Fire At Cortlandt Learning Center CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- The Mohegan Volunteer Fire Association confirmed that a fire at a learning center is still active and declined to offer more details, but according to published reports, a house at Maple Avenue and Galloway Lane caught fire at 10:30 a.m. Key Institute for Learning Strategies is located inside the home. While there were children in the building at the time of the fire, everyone exited the building safely.  According to published reports, firefighters have not determined the cause of the blaze.

Chappaqua Doctor Completes Ironman Triathlon CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. -- Chappaqua Dr. Michael Bergstein was going to do whatever it took to complete an Ironman triathlon, even if it almost killed him. The 55-year old ear, nose and throat doctor, who has offices in Yorktown and Sleepy Hollow, completed an Ironman triathlon last month in Lake Placid, despite getting hit with a tent and fracturing his ribs and bruising his hip. An Ironman triathlon consists of a 2.5 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride and then a marathon.  A "mid-life crisis" is what prompted Bergstein to want to try running a triathlon.
