Hit-Run Crash Victim 'Rapidly Deteriorated' Just Before Hospital Release, Alexandria Police Say
A 70-year-old Alexandria man who was hospitalized after being struck by a hit-and-run vehicle died days after his release, authorities said.
James Thomson, of Alexandria, was found lying at the intersection of North Jordan Street and Taney Avenue with an injury to the back of his head on Thursday, May 9, police said.
Thomson told responders he'd been struck by a car and was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. Prior to his release, Thomson's condition rapidly deteriorated, and he died on Saturday, May 18, authorities announced Wednesday, May 22.

Amber Jones, a 28-year-old surgical technician from Monmouth County, died on May 15, surrounded by loved ones, according to her obituary on the Buckland Funeral Home website.
Amber, affectionately known as "Brown Sugar," graduated from Long Branch High School in 2013 and later earned a medicate associates degree from Brookdale College. In 2019, she became a certified surgical technician.
Amber had been working as an OB tech at Jersey Shore Medical Center and as a surgical tech at the Eye Surgery Center, her obituary says.

Warrants have been issued for the arrest of a 59-year-old Lancaster County woman accused of abusing a care-dependent victim of an assisted living facility she had been working at, police said.
Lori Van Ingen, of Mountville, became the center of an investigation on Jan. 3, when police learned that a care-dependent resident of an assisted living facility had come to the emergency room with bruising and swelling to her head, face, jaw, and ankle, around 9:55 p.m., Lititz police said.
